Chuck’s Journey: Journal Entry #6
The surgery was successful. I had secondary complications. The doctor cut my bowl, and my 3 to 4 hour surgery took 8 hours. I was hard to get off the Anastasia and aspirated. I developed aspiration pneumonia and spent 7 days in ICU. I was released and a day later I developed bloody diarrhea. I began getting light headed and started to pass out. My wife called an ambulance and I was rushed to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. My blood pressure was 50/34, Heart rate in the forties. My respiration was decreased. I was transferred to Bristol Hospital. At Bristol Hospital it was determined I was internal bleeding because of the blood thinner injects I was prescribed when I left the hospital. I lost 4 pints of blood. I need two blood transfusions. I stayed in the hospital for another 5 days. I was hospitalized a total of 12 days.
